## Natarajasana (Dancer Pose) – Video + Teaching PDF

This module explores Natarajasana (Dancer Pose) as a dynamic standing balance that combines strength, stability, mobility, and coordination. Rather than focusing on achieving the deepest backbend or the highest leg, the emphasis is on building the pose progressively while maintaining balance, breath, and control.

In the video, we explore how to prepare students for Natarajasana long before they attempt the full expression of the pose. You’ll learn how to sequence intelligently using preparatory movements that develop hip stability, shoulder mobility, and balance, creating a clear pathway from the ground to standing. We also examine the important relationship between Natarajasana and Warrior III, helping students understand the difference between these two commonly confused postures.

Key themes include maintaining a stable pelvis, developing shoulder mobility safely, using progressive warm-up drills, working with straps and other props, and recognising when greater depth is no longer improving the quality of the pose. You’ll learn practical hands-on assists that support stability rather than forcing range of motion, as well as ways to adapt your positioning to work safely with students of different abilities.

You’ll also see common movement patterns that appear in Natarajasana, including opening the lifted hip, leaning excessively forward, collapsing into the standing leg, and relying on flexibility instead of coordinated control. Alongside hands-on assists, you’ll learn effective verbal cues that help students organise themselves with greater confidence and awareness.

The accompanying PDF provides a structured teaching reference, including alignment principles, common mistakes, verbal cues, contraindications, sequencing ideas, prop variations, muscles involved, and practical teaching notes. Designed as a quick reference for yoga teachers, it supports thoughtful decision-making while recognising that every body will experience the pose differently.

Together, the video and PDF offer a practical, progressive approach to teaching Natarajasana with greater confidence, clarity, and skill.
