Ajna – The Third Eye

As we saw from the previous articles about the chakras, there are various energy wheels in the body that can help guide us through various physical and emotional states.

The Devine Self

The sixth main chakra  in the body is called Ajna, known as the third eye chakra. This energy wheel is located in the pineal gland, inside your brain, usually represented in the middle of your forehead. It is where your conscious mind connects with your inside thoughts, feelings, intuitions and generally where you develop more psychic abilities, connecting yourself with the universe on a spiritual level. This chakra often is considered to be our “6th sense”.

If your Ajna is open and clear you may be more sensitive in perceiving certain vibes. If you sense danger, feel uneasy, are inspired or feel as though you can communicate with things deeper within the universe, such as plants and animals, then your third eye is probably open and accessible. If instead your Ajna is closed or blocked off you may find yourself to be more closed minded where thoughts do not flow clearly and confusion is common. This chakra is all about balance and equilibrium. The creative, right side of your brain needs to connect with the left, more pragmatical side.

Our inner wisdom, our deepest truths and mindfulness are all locoed here, within the Ajna. Opening this chakra requires meditation, calm and serene moments, and often spending time in nature helps.
